The bedroom repairs and custom modifications
We could tell before we purchased the trailer, that the roof above the tongue,
was going to need significant repair. Once I got all the panelling off, the rot
was even more extensive than I had predicted.

I ended up having to replace all of the framing at the front of the tongue, including tone of the corners. This meant I had to pretty much remove the front sheet iron pieces. I managed to do this without having any significant rebuilding of the sheet iron.
Once I got the framing all finished, I decided to scrap the paneling and cover the frame with 1/4 oak plywood.
Since I had to take the bed frame out to remove all the rotted framing, I decided to build it back new. The original frame was to short to support the bed, so I rebuilt it to the size of a queen size mattress, this allowed for better support and more storage. I also made it about 4 inches higher than the old frame.
Wanting to maximze storage space, I decided to build storage boxes on each side of the bed frame. The boxes are level with the frame and open underneath, for access when the bed is raised. The tops also come off the top of the storage boxes for top down access. In addition to the boxes I also sealed off both windows with foam board insulation. I usually work nights so a dark, cold bedroom, is essential. I still need to paint the bedroom, put up curtains, and cover the air conditioner exhaust hose with fabric.
