2000 Terry 27.5 foot fifth wheel project
I purchased this 2000 27.5 foot Terry Fleetwood, from a used dealer in Texas. Before we left the lot, we knew that the roof above the tongue, was going to need serious repair. While we were checking everything out, we discovered the fridge was not getting cold. We were told that this type of fridge took 6 to 8 hours to cool. We also failed to hook it up to a water supply.
Once I got it home it home and plugged in, the fridge never did get cold. When I went to remove it, I discovered that the dealership was probably using my RV for spare parts. The fridge came out with minimal effort and had no gas hooked up to it. After charging the water supply, I discovered the hot heater had a large hole in it. The previous owners were also fond of hanging things on the wall, so there were about 1000 nail and screw holes. In addition to the holes, they thought it would be a good idea to use liquid nails on picture sized plaster wall decorations.
We are going to be using this camper primarily as a residence, while I travel for work. The camper will be at an RV park and electric is part of the rent. I am going to be replacing the fridge and water heater with household electric models. I will also be purchasing a duraflame electric space heater as the primary heat source. In addition to the repairs, I will be modifying the entertainment system with computer controlled monitors and sound.
